Let’s Play Tag

I’ve been tagged by Chuck, and before I run out of bloggies to pass it to, I better do this STAT. I’ve got a few more pending. There’s one that I had promised to do by Independence Day, but other things got in the way. And then I only noticed recently (through my Incoming Links section) that Jim and Jonas had tagged me as well. I’ve answered a similar tag earlier though. There are more, but those have passed their time, I guess.

The supposed title to this is “Ten Things I Hate“, but I find the term hate too strong. Let’s just say things I don’t agree with, or least like.

FOOD: Most fresh water fish. They stink, and I don’t know why but the smell makes me feel like I’m eating either dirt or rust. Not that I’ve eaten those before. And I specially don’t like it when fish is stewed/ in broth. What’s the point? Take a fish out of the water, kill it and put it back to float? And have you tried ostrich meat? It was like eating cardboard. Curiosity got me trying carabeef before, it’s pungent. (parang hindi nag deodorant si Enteng Kalabaw)

FRUITS: Tiesa. The color, the texture, smell, the taste…. everything is wrong about it. Marang. It makes me nauseous. It is sweet, but it smells like overripe… well, fruit. While most people abhor durian, I don’t. I don’t even find the odor offensive.

VEGGIES: I used to skip the veggies, but since I had to go on a diet I’ve learned to like them. It’s an acquired taste, I suppose, but only if they’re steamed, and stir-fried. My father is Ilocano but I can never understand his appetite for dinengdeng. The soup base looks like someone washed his dirty laundry with it. I know I’m missing something when I see him savor what he makes, enough to feed six, in one sitting. I can only name a few vegetables that I haven’t learned to like… alugbati and saluyot come to mind. And that gourd they make into loofahs? (I have forgotten the local name. Patola, it is, says Antuken) The mere mention of these makes me shudder.

PEOPLE: Backstabbers. Fair weather friends. People who only think of benefiting from a relationship. A few incompetent slowpokes at city hall/ in civil service. Social climbers who have no clue over where they’re at and what they’re doing. People who disturb/invade my peace and privacy. I am not a loner, just autistic self-contained, and I value my personal space. But I’m friendly.

EVENT/SITUATION/INCIDENT: When I’m made to do things and I’m not prepared. I like to take my time looking into details. But it seems that many achievements I’m most proud of came about when I’m rushed to beat a deadline. I don’t know why.

TV SHOWS/MOVIES: I’m quoting Azrael on this, “Wowowee, just coz of the host. I firmly believe he’s a dick.” Then there’s Kokey. He/it looks like a moving piece of sh**. Deal or No Deal, because of Kris Aquino. She’s irritating when she wants the attention all to herself. I don’t know why she is hosting? Just look at the big difference between her and Edu Manzano in Pilipinas, Game KNB? Not much talent there. She just thrives on intriga, either about her or her unwilling and helpless contestants. She and Ruffa must like dinengdeng. Charlie and The Chocolate Factory, because of the Oompah Loompah. I wanted to puke.

MUSIC: The cursing and profanity in rap. Country music, except for LeeAnn Rhymes (she’s cute, and I love her songs). It makes me feel like I’m in a pub, alone. So alone.

HOUSEHOLD CHORES: Everything.

THINGS AROUND THE WORLD: War, and all acts of violence. In this day and age, when man should have already learned the lessons of wars past, we’re still at it. Because some still feel supreme, as others feel threatened. Because even as the world becomes smaller, we fail to recognize that our differences should make life enriched, rather than conflicted. All forms of abuse. Drug trafficking. Third world woes.

And then there are the likes of Britney Spears and Paris Hilton. Be afraid. Be very afraid for our children.

THINGS ABOUT MYSELF: I procrastinate. I can get over-confident with myself, of what I can do. And then expect too much, so that when I don’t measure up, I get extremely disappointed and frustrated, losing interest altogether. That should explain why I have a lot of unfinished business in my to-do list. Also, my temper flares up when I’m overwhelmed. When I’m in such a mood, beware… I lash out if people talk to me, if not give them the look.

Now, the fun part. Since lately I’ve been bloghopping (and made friends with) over fellow Bisaya bloggers’ pages, I’m spreading it to them…

Tinuod nga Botbot, Geda, Radueriel, Doc Norwin, Nep, Michael, GirlfromDipolog, Chase , Carlota and Jerry. Do as you please, guys… write as is, or in Bisaya. That would be interesting.

you don’t like most freshwater fish? ay sayang naman… try eating fish from batangas… masarap… like tilapia, and bangus, and esp. tawilis from talisay… eat it fried or grilled, the best — lalo na kung may kasamang ensaladang manggang hilaw!

i think the gourd that they make into loofahs are patola (yata ha, not sure)

antuken: hayun, binanggit mo na nga ang dalawa sa pinakaayaw kong mga isda, tilapia (amoy lupa) and bangus (amoy kalawang, at matinik pa). hehe. i don’t know what tawilis is, but i’ve heard of it… maybe we have it here too but know it by a different name.
yup, patola nga iyong gourd. ewwww… :P

Annie: aczhully (hehe), i can do some. no choice but to do it. i suppose most if not all, and not just the guys, don’t like doing chores. but traditional gender stereotyping suggest that women have to do/know household chores. kaya hayan…

i wonder, too, why women like to rearrange furniture? :-)

i wonder, too, why women like to rearrange furniture? hahaha! natamaan ako jan ah. yeah its a habit na magmove ng furnitures, ako reason ko, to have a new look naman ang bahay para at least di boring (mas masaklap kesa naman itapon ang furnitures at bumili ng bago haha) and second i can clean up even sa pinakasulok sulokan ng mga corners ng bahay.

“i wonder, too, why women like to rearrange furniture?” —- josko!

langga, sayang i will be in marawi city this weekend eh may convention pala kayo dito sa iligan. tsk tsk! sayang … hindi mo ko mai-lilibre. nyahaha!

nways, enjoy ur weekend ug amping pud sa biyahe.

i don’t know about me being suited to becoming a diplomat… i try to be tolerant as much as i can, i try to understand, always giving people the benefit of the doubt… pero wala akong pasensya sa ayaw makinig.

uy! inggit ako sa French mo… i don’t have the leisure of learning at Alliance Française. :-)

i love sinigang na isda, pero ung sabaw lang at kung anong gulay na nandun..

about the country music, i learned to keep mum about disliking it when i was in texas or else i’d be beheaded.. you’d be surprised how passionate they are with it, more than i am with my fave music…

gbert: same here. seguro depende sa mood, o kaya when others eating with me seem to be enjoying their sinigang so much, i sample the soup, too. but hardly the fish. mabango din naman kasi ang sabaw.

i most dislike Billy Ray Cyrus. thank goodness he only lasted as long as Achey Breaky Heart. or didn’t he?

Ostrich meat? … hmm … I’d like to try that sometime :D I know there’s a province the produces it’s meat somewhere.

I have the same sentiments with Tiesa. I find Mabolo’s smell more offensive than Durian, now that fruit smell’s like sh!+ ;P

hi Zero! i first tried ostrich meat in Cagayan de Oro. i was excited to try, it was advertised as “a healthy alternative” because it has less fat. napilitan din lang tapusin ang order ko dahil it was a treat, kakahiyang magtira. hehe.

    i don’t know what mabolo is. :P

I don’t like… catfish… or any type of “mudfish”. Like eating… well, mud.

I’m ok with eating fish in broth, but only if it’s well done, like i.e. a decent bouillabaise with wine, herbs and shellfish.

Sorry, I dislike almost pretty much all country music, except maybe old stuff by Patsy Cline… if I’m feeling depressed. Country hurting twang is particularly appropriate mood music when one is highly depressed and/or suicidal. :p

lately, I’ve been enjoying the sinigang na tanguige at a local restaurant, Ati-atihan. I love the sourness of the broth, and before I knew it, I was eating the fish, too.

ain’t country music so depressing? most people tagged mention a dislike for it, too.

  27. hehehe. dokie, sowee, karon pa ko kita sa tag. been in sickbed that’s why.

hemingway, nalingaw ko sa comment about women rearranging furniture every now and then. hehehehe. i move my bed and other things in my room every time i do a general cleaning, at least weekly. hehehe. as for the living room and the dining room-let, hehe, i change their arrangement every week. maski twist and turn ra. and i cant sleep till i get to do it. i cant speak for the rest of the ya-ya sisterhood but i’m guilty as charged ana. hehe.

hala, tag kung tag. but nya na kay kafoy pa suwat doc. actually, gisapot ko coz nawala akong sinuwat. hehe.

aha! good thing your family still find their way around the house? basin kadugayan Geda, huboon nila ilang shirt ug balihon kay abi gimino? hehehe. saw your post on this na. :P

  29. well, my dad went out of his room tonight and the last time he did that was a month or so ago–he’s paralyzed and like most old men, he refuses to help himself, although he undergoes PT thrice a week. so anyway, gi-wheel out sya’s iyang assistant and since la ko kabalo nga he’d be coming out, nabalaw kog irog sa mga dividers nga makababag sa iyang agi-anan! hehehe.

my mom complains coz mawala kuno iyang sense of familiarity sa house–like where the spoons are, etc. hehehe.

“…like most old men, he refuses to help himself…”

pretty much like Tatay. he’s healthy and mobile, and all, but i notice he’s becoming too dependent, lately. sugo dinhi, sugo didto… even with the smallest things. not to mention grumpy. :P

“my mom complains coz mawala kuno iyang sense of familiarity sa house–like where the spoons are, etc.”

bwahaha… i can empathise with your mom. i remember getting so annoyed when i had to look for instruments/materials, and i couldn’t readily find them. just because my previous dental assistant kept rearranging. it’s such a hassle because once i get my hands gloved, i cannot scour through drawers.

    Posted 10 months ago
  30. dokie,

imo gi-fire imong dental assistant for rearranging your stuff? basin ganahan man gud sya sya maoy tigtunol. kaw sad no. and aren’t assistants supposed to arrange what you’re going to use through your session with your patient? tsk. akoy train anang imong assistants! hehe.

unsa kahay style nimo ig katiguwang nimo doc no? prehas kaha mos imong tatay? ok*n*n*m! LOL.

ahaha… no, i didn’t fire her for it, she had to leave for Davao (to attend to her ailing sister’s kids, that’s what i was told)
yes, she was actually doing her job (and feeling it so much, LOL). after she left, i had to study how the whole clinic set-up works.

nah… que horror! i’m even beginning to look like my father. *sigh*
