After Charice Pempengco, she has expressed interest in having the new Journey vocalist, Arnel Pineda on it. I am thrilled, Ellen is recognizing that there is a huge amount of talent waiting to be tapped here in the Philippines. She isn’t the first to say so, of course. But I don’t mean to be overbearing, as I am also aware that it isn’t just Filipino artists being discovered through means never before imagined. Charice was spotted on Korean tv, Pineda on YouTube. And a multitude of non-Filipinos becoming instant sensations, too. The world is indeed getting smaller.
It happens that Pinoys are very enthusiastic denizens of the internet. We love to keep in touch, and it’s a cheap medium most can readily afford. It is creative. And it spreads fast. Hence, Happy Slip, the legendary CPDRC inmates dancing Thriller, the viral Renaldo Lapuz on American Idol 7th Season, the infamous Binibining Pilipinas Q and A, and the Papaya Song dance craze which got to Good Morning America.

wow. i’ve seen him in Kapuso Mo, Jessica Soho, and pinoys like him make me feel proud to be pinoy.
i am really glad that pinoy talents are now being recoginzed abroad. i hope that the day will come when pinoy talents will dominate the international scene.

yes, news like these are very much welcome. i suppose people from abroad are acknowledging the gift of music many of us have, and hearing about it is such good news dahil malapit sa puso natin ang musika yata… it’s very much a part of our daily lives.

I agree that we Filipinos love to keep in touch. That fact separates us from the rest of Asia.
I believe most Asians share the same custom, but we Filipinos take it a notch farther.

that’s really good to hear despite what’s happening back home. there are also some Pinoy blooded Aussies/migrants who are making waves here in ‘So You Think You Can Dance’ show.

Yeah, I have seen it in Ellen. I am a big fan of her, and being a stay-at-home mom, I have no comfort other than our TV. The first time – was with Charice. I had goose bumps the minute I saw the video they got from You Tube. After a few weeks, she was there! In American boob tube!!! As for Arnel, I saw the episode where she mentioned that Journey will launch their album in May in her show. Cool!
